Conducting Courses Remotely

Inclusive Practices

To accommodate all learners (and time zones!), you can record your teaching sessions via Google Hangouts Meet.

To share resources with your students, you can take advantage of Google Drive.

If you prefer to use Google Drive, you can also share files and folders in a variety of ways.

One key thing you may want to consider when sharing files is to give students a key in the title of the file or folder as to when the piece needs to be read by. An example of this could be: "03_10_filename.pdf" - this tells students to read/view the file by March 10th.

Live Class Sessions

You can schedule a Google Hangouts Meet through the calendar - setting up an appointment or directly from Meet.

Share your screen in Google Hangouts Meet

If you'd like to switch from a video of you, to a presentation, to other things on your screen, you can do so using screen share. Find out more about screen sharing.

Forums

Adding a forum to your class allows you to interact with your students in a variety of ways. Adding a general discussion forum allows you and your students to start new conversations and to reply to each other. See Learninghouse resources for setting up Forums
