Information Literacy - or learning to do research: a life time skill: Starting with Encyclopedias

What are some reasons that ENCYCLOPEDIAS are great place to start your research?

1.  Provide a brief overview of the topic.

2.  Introduce you to scholars (the authors of the entries are experts in their field)

3.  Often provide additional places to find information (bibliography, references, see also).

Now that you know how to search Credo Reference.  Try searching ONE of your search terms in Credo Reference.  Notice the Mind Map on the right of the page.

Are there different terms that are more appropriate for your topic?  or interesting to you?

Notice the Author, the bibliography if there is one, and the citation options.

Save an article that you might use for your research paper, speech, or project.

Can I help?
